THORN + ROOTS was founded in 2018 by Brandon and Allen in Saratoga Springs, New York. They identified a need for a health-conscious, fast-casual dining option in the community, leading them to establish a menu featuring cold-pressed juices, smoothies, acai bowls, avocado toast, grain bowls, and salads.
WHAT’S THE INITIAL INVESTMENT?
The total investment necessary to start a THORN + ROOTS franchise ranges from $310,000 to $752,000. This includes an initial payment of $35,000 to the franchisor.

HOW LONG UNTIL I CAN BE OPEN?
The process requires that a location be open within nine months of signing a franchise agreement. The leasing process usually consumes the bulk of this time frame, so starting it early can lead to a quicker opening. Our development team is dedicated to guiding franchisees through this process efficiently.
WHAT ABOUT SITE SELECTION + BUILD OUT?
THORN + ROOTS plays an active role in site selection. We require approval of the site by our Director of Real Estate before you can sign a lease. Our team is heavily involved in the site selection process and assists in lease negotiations alongside your real estate broker.
DO YOU GUYS HELP WITH FINANCING?
Yes, THORN + ROOTS collaborates with several third-party financing companies to assist with funding for franchise locations. We select partners that are reliable and trustworthy to ease the financial process for our franchisees.
DO I HAVE TO WORK IN THE FRANCHISE?
THORN + ROOTS requires all franchise owners to be actively involved in the operation of their location initially, which might mean dedicating over 40 hours per week, especially during the first 6 to 9 months. Engaged and hands-on ownership is key to success in our franchise model.
HOW DOES THE SUPPLY CHAIN WORK FOR FRANCHISEES?
THORN + ROOTS strives to simplify the supply chain process. Ingredients are carefully selected and sourced by our Home Office and are easily orderable from our national distributors. We also provide thorough training for our Franchise Partners on efficient ordering practices for ingredients and supplies.
